Knitting pattern help please!?
I am knitting a hooded sweater by Stefanie Japel, from the book “Glam knits.” I don’t have a picture to post of what I am knitting – hope you can understand my question without one.
The front of the sweater is open and there is a band down the centre of the front, on the right and left side. It is about 2″ wide. It is knitted in seed stitch. I don’t understand the instructions for knitting the front bands- it amost sounds as though I am supposed to pick up stitches from the existing knitted piece. Please help- this is my first sweater.
This is what it says, word for word.
” With RS facing and using smaller needle, pick up and knit approx. 3 sts for every 4 rows along right front edge, ending with an even number of sts. Work 8 rows in seed stitch. Bind off in patt. Rep for left front band.”
This makes absolutely no sense to me. I would really appreciate any help – it’s the last step in the process.

alright, with the front of the sweater facing you using your smaller needles. there are the left and right side of the piece, you see all the rows that you have for every 4 rows you pick up only 3 of them. when your done picking up the stitches you should have an even number of stitches.

once you pick up the stitches you knit 1 stitches, purl 1 stitches across those stitches that you picked up, then turn your work and purl the knits and knit the purls. repeate this for a total of 8 rows and then bind of by knitting one stitch, purling one stitches and then pass the knit stitch over the purl stitch.
do the same on the other side.
