In knitting what does “(K1, M1) twice” mean?
I am making a toy for my cat, and one part of the pattern says “(K1, M1) twice”, what does this mean?
Knit one, make one, knit one, make one. The parentheses mean what is inside will be repeated. The “twice” tells you how many times to repeat it.

A designer may call for a specific kind of increase if she feels it matters to the design, or she may simply tell you to “increase” (inc). In this case, she wants you to make a “m1″ increase.
