how do you change color when knitting?
i’m knitting a strawberry tea cosy and the pattern says k5 red k1 yellow. I understand the pattern but i dont know how to add the new color mid row. Do i cast on with a slip knot and stitch them? Does the thread get carried around the back of the peice? I ve had a go and my first attempt there was a strands of yellow around the back for 5 stiches until i had to stitch it through the front. Also i only have to add the yellow for one row then ss for 5 rows then add the yellow again so so i cut the yellow after one row then re-introduce it when its needed again or carry the same thread throughout the peice to the end? Please help xx
I am showing some sites and to answer your question, if the distance isn’t too far and it is directly above the other insert of yellow, carry it up as if you don’t you will loose a lot of yarn and to have two tails on each row to be hidden would be a chore.
