Can I use normal knitting wool on a knitting machine or does it have to be wool specially for machine knitting
Yes you can but the finer ply of yarn is better. I think from memory the spray you use on it is a silicone type of spray which makes the machine glide better have a look at this site to see what I am talking about – apparently there are other substitutes such as fabric softener which can be applied also with a spray bottle on the yarn – hope this is some use to you – I think that the reason people use cones is for convenience of having long lengths of yarn to knit – the smaller skeins will have to be joined in more frequently – have a look at this site and do a search of your own using words knitting machines and knitting yarn together
