Knitting Row Counter

Accurate way to count rows?

I’m knitting a scarf that has stripes. I finished the first stripe, but I wasn’t using a row counter (I don’t have one yet). It’s hard to tell how many rows I did because I’m using white. Does anyone know of any ways to count how many rows I did? Thanks!

I use the lowest tech method for that. I slide my needle down a vertical line of stitches and poke it through each stitch. I also count out loud as I go or I mess up badly. Add one for the cast-on row, as you can’t stick your needle through it.
