do you have a basic knitting pattern for a mans beanie, using plain stitch?
i am a beginner and i cant do any stitches apart from plain and pearl, please give a simple pattern. thanks alot bunch
Do you know how to work on double points, in the round, or just flat (back and forth)? If you know how to work in the rounds on double points or a short (16″) circular, cast onto size 7 needles with worsted weight yarn 80 stitches. Make sure the cast on is not twisted on the needle and join by putting the last stitch cast on next to the first stitch cast on from the right needle to the left, lift the first stitch over the last stitch from the left needle to the right needle to join without a gap, and place a marker between these two stitches so you know where your beginning is. Work 4 inches of knit 2, purl 2 ribbing around and around. Then switch to just knit stitch for 3 inches. Next row, starting at the marker *knit 8 stitches then knit 2 together*, repeating this all the way around. Knit the next round with no decreases. When you knit the next decrease rounds, every decrease round you will knit one less stitch between the knit 2 togethers followed by a round with no decreases until you have 8 stitches left. Cut your yarn leaving a 12 inch tail. Thread this tail in a yarn needle and then pull it through all the stitches two times (a circle) and then through the hole in the center to the inside. Pull it up tight and weave a few inches of the tail into the inside of the hat.
If you can only knit flat, cast on 82 stitches (you need two stitches for the seam) and working back and forth do your ribbing, beginning and ending each row by slipping the first stitch as if to purl, and bringing the yarn to the working side after this. Switch to the stockinette after 4 inches, knitting one row and purling the next for 3 inches, ending ready to work the knit side. Do your decreases by *knit 8m knit 2 together across* and purl the next row back (you’ll do your decreases on every knit row and every even row will be purled). When you have 8 stitches left, cut your yarn tail 18 inches long so you can use it to seam, and again, run the yarn through all the stitches twice and seam using mattress stitch (google that one so you can see how it’s done) for a flat seam, remembering that when you get to the ribbing, you need to make sure you seam from the outer side where the knit stitches were worked in the hat so the seam doesn’t show when you turn up the ribbing for a cuff.
