Bought wrong knitting needle size… will it work?
I am going to be knitting a hat and the first part of the hat is meant to be knit on size 10 dpns. I was in a hurry at the store and mistakenly grabbed size 10 1/2. (Didn’t even realize they came in half sizes… whoops.) Only the first five rounds are to be knit on the dpns and then I switch to a size 11 24″ circular. If I keep my knitting a bit tighter on the dpns at the start, will it be ok? Or should I hold off on starting until I can get the right size?
I don’t think it will make much difference. We are only talking a minuscule difference. The brim will be a little looser than if done with the smaller needle, but not by much. That is if it’s done in garter stitch (all knit). If it’s done in ribbing (k1,p1) it won’t make any difference
