Crafters what’s in this year?
I like to do crafts then sell them to get money to make things for charity. Any ideas on what good sellers this year? I can do plastic canvas, some sewing, some chocheting and small things. I can’t paint, do jewery, or knit. I am disabled so i like to sew lap quilts for nursing homes but that cost alot for materials so i counter act with selling cheaper stuff that i can afford to make. thanks for any ideas.
felted items are extremely popular, and although most people are knitting and then felting, you can felt old wool sweaters (get them from freecycle.org or thrift stores) and then cut them like you would any other fabric and sew them together. Your quilting skills would allow you to do some beautiful piecework things with felted wool- handbags and needle caddies come to mind.
And felting is super easy- just throw the old sweaters into pillowcases, safety-pin them shut, and then wash them in hot water with lots of salt and agitation. The pillowcase keeps the lint from clogging up your machine.
