i bought a knit hat. how do i clean it. i dont have money to dry clean it.?

i wished my wool scarf and i messed it up. so how do i clean my hat. leave it soaking in water and detergent???
Wool is cool but very delicate. You should never wash it machine or hot water. You should leave it soaking in cool water with detergent for a while (30-40 minutes will do) and then don’t strech it to dry it, but simply leave it layed down on a clean surface. Away of sun.
