How to knit a sweater similar to this one?
How would I knit a sweater like this one ?

I really like the colours and patterns, but the the style may be changed up a bit. ANy pattern suggestions?
The technique is called Fairisle. It requires knitting with two different balls of yarn at the same time, either by carrying one color on each hand and knitting the right color English and the left continental, by carrying both on the left hand (one on the index finger and one on the ring finger– or using a knitting thimble) or a whole lot of stopping and starting and twisting balls of yarn if you try to knit it straight English. Obviously I recommend continental. I do it myself with two colors on my left index finger, but that’s not how I started out. If you can knit both English and continental you’re probably best starting with one color on each hand.

The pattern itself is not remarkable, there are many like it available. What is different is that it appears to be inside out. The strands that are usually hidden on the inside of the sweater are on the outside on this one. And the charted pattern that is usually shown is hidden on the inside.
Start with whatever cardigan pattern you want and get some knitter’s graph paper (just google and you can find free sites you can print it off from) and make your own chart for the pattern. Remember when seaming to seam it inside out.
I like Ann Budd’s Knitter’s Handy Book of Sweater Patterns when I want to start with a basic pattern and embellish it myself.
