Hand Knit Baby Clothes

Hand knitted afghans and baby clothing?

A friend of mine has rented a spot at a local fair (a week long)and has offered to try and sell my items for me along with her own. How much should I sell them for. I have many afghans, baby blankets, booties, etc that I have made over the years but do not know what I should sell them for. I am not looking to make a huge profit, I just do not know what other people are charging. Any general info would be helpful.

I have read in many crafting articles 7 times the cost of your materials seems to work for knitted items. As a fellow knitter who has tried to sell at fairs, I know that if I try to recoup cost for labor I will outprice myself at most venues.

I would love to make a living handknitting garments but even if I charged minimum wage for my labor an afghan or baby blanket could cost into the hundreds of dollars in labor only, which may only sell in some high priced store in Beverly Hills. I am currently working on a very fine lace baby blanket that will take more than 100 hours to complete. I don’t know many people willing to spend $500 on a blanket that will be outgrown in a few months.
