What can you knit during the summer?
It’s summer currently and i finally have some time to start knitting again. What I am looking for are some fun and easy projects that i could knit and wear during the summer. (like a sun hat or a light blanket) However, all I could find were scarves, mittens, and other such paraphernalia that were for the winter. Does anyone have any idea as to some good projects that I could make? As well as the type of yarn that is usually pretty light and durable?
Please do not mention the book “Knitting in the Sun: 32 Creative Projects for Warm Weather” I have had the hardest time getting that book….
Annie Modesitt has a hat pattern on her website, and there are other baseball type hat patterns available on-line. Tank tops are great summer knitting, as are shawls,socks, and purses (felted purses take virtually no time to knit and the wool doesn’t get that hot in your hands). Afghan squares are good beach knitting, and tote bags are tremendous ways to expand your knitting skills. Cotton, rayon, ramie, and linen yarns are all light and durable for summer knitting.
I actually don’t change what I knit much in the summer, I just keep keppin’ on.
