Knitting using different wool to pattern?
I have a pattern that says use Aran 1200gm of 9 different colours. What difference would it make if I used dk wool, would I have to use bigger or smaller needles and more wool to complete the pattern. The reason for this as my shop has not got the colours i want in Aran, but they have in DK wools.
I am not an experienced knitter and havnt done it in ages so I need a lot of advice.
thanks
As an alternative to the Aran, how about using the dk wool together with a strand of a sport weight? That should make it about the same thickness and weight. As an even simpler solution, use some of the great internet sites for yarn. I especially like Patternworks and Lion Brand yarn. Whatever you decide on, make sure to swatch first to save yourself grief later on.
