What would be the correct size knitting needles to use with 4 ply yarn for kniting socks?
I want to make some socks, but I want to use 4-ply yarn. Socks are usually done with fingering yarn. Am I correct? Well, since it so cold, I want to make them in either wool, or 4 ply yarn, but I can’t seem to get the correct gauge for 4 ply yarnw a stitch gauge of (four stitches to an inch) on a size 9 knitting needle. Oh, I know a size 9 knitting needle is rather large for socks, but I love my “addi Turbo” knitting needle in that size & I can knit much faster with larger knitting needles. I have a size 2 also, but it takes too long…..LoL Help me please!
Knitting socks with worsted weight yarn (this is the usual reference for 4 ply in the US) would use size 6 needles rather than 9′s, whether you like your Addi’s in size 9 or not, if you want the socks to wear well. Take heart, I just started a pair in fingering weight this morning on size 1′s
